What is my IP address?

Your public IP address is the unique number your internet provider (ISP) assigns to your connection. Every website you visit sees it — it's how data finds its way back to you. Knowmyip shows both your IPv4 and IPv6 address at the top of this page the instant it loads, along with your approximate location, ISP, and ASN.

IPv4 vs IPv6 — what's the difference?

IPv4 is the classic 32-bit format that looks like 223.185.41.16. Because the world ran out of IPv4 addresses, IPv6 was introduced — a 128-bit format like 2401:4900:881e::1 with room for vastly more devices. Many networks now run both at once ("dual stack"). Our Look up tab also shows how any IPv4 maps into IPv6 notation (IPv4-mapped, 6to4, and NAT64).

How to look up any IP address
